Frequently Asked Questions

How do you determine who is eligible for a donation box?

We work with local churches to determine who is in need of the bundle boxes. We just tell the church how many bundles we have available that month and they determine who they are given out to.

How do the farmers get paid?

We pay the farmers their full price. We buy whole animals from the farmer and pay them based on the hanging weight then bring the processed meat back to our facilities to be packaged into bundles or be sent out to customers who order ¼ ½ or whole animals.

How many bundles do you give out each month?

That depends on a number of factors - depending on how many bundle subscriptions we sell, how many donations we receive each month, and how many ¼ ½ or whole animals we sell. Our profits from the bundles and bulk orders help us build more bundles for those in need.

Are you a non-profit?

No. This whole business started as an accident. We started by giving away a few extra Thanksgiving Turkeys from our farm and some people reached out asking if they could donate monthly so we could give meat away monthly. Thinking this was a good idea I reached out to see how many people would be interested figuring we could help 2-3 families each month and was blown away by how many people responded. We decided to open a separate business from our farm to ensure that all the money stays separate from our farm and is used to help make bundles for those in need. I talked with a tax consultant and he shared that due to new tax codes and the time it would take to set up a non-profit, it would be more beneficial to just open another business so we could get to helping people sooner than later. Our goal is to help as many people as we can, we would love to have you join us in this journey!

Are your animals raised grass fed/organic?

Yes and No. We are currently working on finalizing details with several farmers across the state. Every farm is different and every farm practices different farming methods. What works for one farm, may not work for the next farm down the road. We value transparency and showcasing the strengths of both conventional farming and regenerative/grass fed farming. Every farm is different and every farmer is doing the best thing they can for the health of their animals and farm. Each meat bundle box will come with a small bio of the farm/farmer that raised your meats. As we grow we will have more options to choose for bulk orders (1/4, 1/2, or whole animals) as either 100% grass fed, or conventionally raised.

When is pick up for the bundles?

Due to the nature of working with several farms and butchers to source our meats, pick-up is available on farm from 4-6pm in Holt, MI the 4th Wednesday and Thursday of every month. A follow up email will be sent after your order confirming pick-up date and exact address.

What if I’m not home for home delivery during the drop off time?

We will send you an email to confirm which day we are delivering your bundle to your house. We deliver between 8am and 6pm M-F the 4th week of every month. If you know you will not be home then leave a cooler with ice packs by your main door and we will leave the meat in the cooler. We will then send you a text with a picture of the meat in your cooler so you know when it was delivered. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure you get to it in a timely manner and put it in your freezer. If you fail to leave a cooler out and nobody answers the door, we will not leave your bundle but will return to the farm with it and you will need to come pick it up at an agreed upon date and time.
